Welcome to Brighton Hill Community School, and thank you for showing interest in our School. I hope you find this introductory information useful as you embark in the challenging process of searching for the right school for your son or daughter. We recognise that first and foremost a good school seeks to build a partnership with parents and to sustain this partnership throughout the student’s school career. Our commitment to building quality relationships between parents and students is based upon a shared sense of purpose and a belief in the value of mutual respect, consideration for others and the importance of positive self-esteem.
We want your child to be happy at school, to enjoy learning and ACHIEVE his or her very best. Students come first at Brighton Hill. We value every boy and every girl and recognise each child’s individual needs and aspirations. We expect and encourage all our students to aim high, behave well, work hard and achieve success.
We would be delighted to hear from you and would be happy to arrange for you to receive a tour of the school at your convenience and meet the students, staff and Headteacher to discuss your child’s future. We look forward to you and your family having a positive, fruitful and lasting association with our school.
We have provided some information below from our current parent welcome book for new intake children as well as details about our forthcoming taster days. If there is anything else you need to know please feel free to telephone the School on 01256 350606 or e-mail us at email@example.com
Year 5 is a good time to start to think about choosing a Secondary School. At Brighton Hill we welcome Year 5 children to visit the school and experience a school day with us and see at first hand what life is like and what we have to offer. We hold Year Taster Days with our feeder primary school children.
What are Taster Days?
Taster Days offer Year 5 pupils a chance to sample a day at Brighton Hill Community School. The Taster Days take place in June and include various activities such as lesson experiences, orientation tasks, team building and meeting our students and teachers. The taster day will allow your child to receive a real taste of what life is like at Brighton Hill so that the when the time comes to visit as a year 6 child for our Open Evening in September you are already one step ahead in knowing us and our staff. Most importantly, it is a chance to find out whether Brighton Hill Community School is the right school for your child and to help with the decision you and your family are due to make.
Year 5 Taster Days
Invitations to all Year 5 children at our feeder schools (Hatch Warren Junior School, Cliddesden Primary School, North Waltham Primary School and St Mark’s Primary School) will be sent, in the Spring Term, directly to the Headteacher and Staff of those schools.
Year 6 new intake induction day and evening
This is an opportunity for all children to begin their successful transition into secondary education here with us at Brighton Hill. The day is organised for all children who are due to join us in September. Your child will meet with Mrs Macdonald (Transition Manager and Head of Year 7) and other key staff including spending time with his / her new tutor ready for September.
All children will experience some sample lessons and have an opportunity to get a real taste of what the school day will look like, so that when they start their journey in September they feel happy and at ease and ready to embark on the exciting transition into secondary education at Brighton Hill.
