Headteacher Update

Information & Letter & News

Dear Parents/Carers,

I thought it important that I write to you, to keep you as up-to-date as possible during these unprecedented challenges facing our nation.  As you will know, the word from the government is that schools will remain open; we are committed to doing so in order to help our community to operate in a way which is as close to normal as can be expected at this time.  Already, the commitment of our staff has been above and beyond the call of duty to be here to support our students when they need it the most and I am indebted to them as they continue to put our school community first.

Due to the fact that there will inevitably be staff absence in the coming days/weeks, there may be occasions when the school is forced to close, at least partially.  I reiterate that we are currently very well staffed to continue to open fully, but we do have plans in place if a closure, full or partial, were to happen.  This will include prioritising our Year 11 students with upcoming external exams, as well as the children of those who are working in healthcare, social care or the emergency services.  If you do work in one of these critical sectors, please can you email details to admin@brightonhill.hants.sch.uk

Whilst we focus on ensuring we stay open during school hours, we are forced to reconsider post-school activities. As such, parents’ evenings will be postponed, as will the vast majority of sporting fixtures and clubs.  Homework club will continue to run until further notice, but decisions on other clubs will be made by the individual staff members who are due to run them.

Additionally, with a desire to keep our school as sanitised as possible, can you please only come into the school building if absolutely necessary or for a pre-arranged meeting which cannot be rescheduled.

Obviously, with the fluid situation we find ourselves in, we will continue to send updates as regularly as possible, but you can also find updates and useful links on our school website.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. C. Edwards
