Dear Parent / Guardian

Attendance and Final Day of Term Arrangements

I am writing to confirm the arrangements for the final day of term – Friday, 21 December 2018.  All students are expected to attend school on this day.  The day will be structured as follows:

During the Christmas assembly, students will be entered into a prize draw where they can win a £20 Amazon voucher.  We will give away two vouchers during this assembly.  Students must be in attendance to receive the award.

In addition, staff will be performing challenges that were set by Mr Edwards in the last full school assembly.  The teachers are participating in these challenges to raise money for the Ugandan orphanage charity that we are supporting this year.  Staff challenges include participation in: a bush tucker trial, a live dance during the assembly, a music video and a fancy dress competition.  Students will be asked to make a voluntary donation towards the charity, based on the quality of staff performances during the Christmas assembly. Students can make these donations with their tutor, after the assembly, if they choose to do so.  I must stress this is voluntary and not essential.  So far, we have raised nearly £1,700 for the charity and we hope to see this figure increase as the academic year goes by.

Finally, we know that attendance can drop in these final weeks and days of the term – particularly in a long 8 week half term such as this.  However, lessons will run as normal until the Christmas assembly and therefore we would urge you to ensure your child is attending school every day until the school holidays begin.  Clearly absence has a huge impact on student progress and we are keen to keep attendance as high as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school.

Yours sincerely

Mr Guy Wilkinson

Assistant Headteacher
