20 November 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, I must start by thanking you for your generosity for Friday’s non-uniform day.  We managed to raise over £1,500 as a school on the day, which is a great start to our fundraising efforts to fly a group of children from a Ugandan orphanage over to join us for a week in the summer.  There will be many more fundraising events coming soon, so please watch this space and I thank you in advance for your overwhelming support.

I also want to make you aware of two key dates coming up.  Firstly, a reminder that school will be closed on Friday 30th November for an Inset Day.  Secondly, term will end on Friday December 21st and this will be a half day, with school finishing at 12.20pm that day.

It really has been a fantastic start to the 2018/19 academic year and I thank you for your continued support of us all here at Brighton Hill Community School.

As you may have read in the local press,  the Powerleague facility which is run on our site is one of the sites being closed by the organisation and this is due to happen on 31 January 2019.

Hampshire County Council Estates Department are dealing with this matter and are currently trying to secure a letting to another organisation to allow the continued public use of the site.  Until a new tenant is chosen from the many interested parties, the school will continue to be able to use the facility.

I will be in contact with you again once I have further information on this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Mr C Edwards
